Wrightsville Beach 101

Every UNCW student understands the real reason we all went to the same school: the beach. While many are lucky enough to enjoy residing on Wrightsville for their last year or two of school, there are many hotspots that are not to be missed. Here are the key parts to living on the Island:

1. Half Price Menu at Jerry Allen's Sports Bar - Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday they have half price on anything ranging from their Sandpiper Street Chicken Sandwich (includes grilled pineapple and Asian sweet sauce) or their Spicy Waynick Avenue burger. With great sides and drink specials to add on, you're more than ready for an inexpensive meal at a great beach spot.

2. The Loop- Enjoy a casual stroll to watch the sunset over the bridge, or get yourself ready for beach season as the "Loop" is a great way to stay active. Hundreds of residents exercise or walk their dogs daily on this 2.47 mile long treck. Make sure to let your dogs drink the complimentary water in dog bowls at many stops along the way!

3. Free Salsa Lessons at King Neptunes - King Neptunes may be a staple for dining on Wrightsville Beach, but come Thursday nights the atmosphere is like a trip across the border. Free Salsa lessons are a great way to spice things up and have some fun. Make sure to bring your dancing shoes!

4. Take on the fastest growing water sport in the world! SUPing- Stand Up Paddle-boarding is catching like wildfire around the world, and Wrightsville Beach is no stranger to the sport. Take a tour with WrightsvilleSUP as they show you the basics all the way to advanced surfing or yoga with paddleboards. It's a great way to enjoy the coastal lifestyle!
