Living Off-Campus

Living off campus can be difficult, especially for a new student. Being off campus makes it more difficult to connect with people and make groups of friends at school. Here are a few tips to help new students living off campus.

1) Get Involved!- The best thing you can do is find organizations or clubs on campus that you would enjoy being a part of in order to meet people similar to yourself.

2) Be Around- Being on campus gives you an opportunity to see more people you may barley know also allowing you to interact with more people you would normally see.

3) Know Your Neighbors- Living in a dorm, you are constantly in close quarters with other students your age. Living in an off campus apartment, this is not the case. Make sure you allow yourself to meet your neighbors so that you have someone close by

4) Events- At the beginning of the year there will be numerous events on campus. You should pick 2 or 3 and attend them.

5) Seahawk Perch- This is the student off-campus housing organization that informs students living off campus of events going on around campus and on campus. Make sure to take advantage of these.

These are just a few things that you can do as an off-campus student to stay connected to the campus community.
