Great Eats at the DUB

Wilmington offers many great dining options, some of which I believe are much better than others. Also if your smart and know what days these certain restaurant have specials you can eat out with out it taking a toll on your wallet. You can take advantage of on and off campus dining. The great thing about UNCW is that on those days you get sick of eating the cafeteria food, there are so many options off campus that are affordable for college students.

On-Campus Dining:
Wagoner Hall- offers a variety of foods everyday. Has daily specials along with consistent stations like the salad bar, sandwich station, and pizza.
Dub's Cafe- a smaller cafeteria that also has daily specials along with salad bar and sandwich station. You can eat inside or out; sometimes the only issue is finding a seat.
Hawk's Nest- offers you many different options in the form of a food court. There is Jole Mole, Green Spot, Opa!, Salad Creations, The Varsity Grill, Sushi, Freshens (ice cream & smoothies), Varsity God, Chick-fil-A, and Quiznos
The Landing Deli- small deli located in the Landing apartment complex. Plenty of sandwich options plus ice-cream and smoothies.

Here is a link to a page listing all on-campus dining options. There are a few other smaller options on campus listed here, but I explained the main three:

Off-Campus Dining:

On a budget:
1. Nikki's Sushi Bar and Grill located a short distance from UNCW at 260 Racine Drive. This is a great place to get sushi and other great Oriental food. They also have a happy hour form 4-6pm where they offer a half price sushi menu!
2. Islands Fresh Mex Grill located a short distance of UNCW at 260 Racine Drive.- This restaurant offers many great mexican dishes, and most importantly has $1 tacos EVERYDAY from 5pm to close!
3. Jerry Allen's Sports Bar and Grill located at 38 North Lumina Avenue in Wrightsville Beach.- This is a hot spot right at Wrightsville Beach that has great sandwhiches and burgers along with awesome sides. They also feature a half-price menu from 5-9pm Mon, Wed, Fri, and Sun.

For some more formal dining:

  1. Indochine located towards downtown at 7 Wayne Drive. This restaurant has great thai food, and an even better atmosphere. Make sure you leave yourself plenty of time when eating here, there is always a long wait.
  2. The Oceanic located right on the beach at 703 S. Lumina Avenue. This restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, as well as brunch on Sunday from 10am-2pm. They serve mainly seafood and salad. The views from any seat in the dining room are out of this world.
  3. Elijah's located downtown on the riverfront at 2 Ann Street. This restaurant is an American grill that offers lunch and dinner. There is outside seating available.

There are a plethora of options for off-campus dining. It all just depends on your budget for the night in order to make your choice!

Eating at these places are great but as you stated can put a dent in your wallet. On your light days you could bring a snack from home. Driving off campus burns gas which costs money. When you do eat on campus I suggest using food dollars because there are no taxes as opposed to cash and debit. You could get a meal plan but they can get to be expensive. Your research and this post has been very helpful to me as I am not from Wilmington and spend most of my day here. Great post!
